That was the treat in store for all those who recently attended H.R Owen Bentley’s sectional momentum day at the iconic UTAC testing facility in Bedfordshire, formerly known as Millbrook Proving Ground.
The importance of Millbrook Proving Ground in the high-tech and secretive world of automotive testing cannot be overstated. One of the largest testing centres in Europe, since it was opened in the 1960s it has been the go-to facility for many of the world’s leading car brands to test and develop their cars surpassing going on sale.
It’s moreover wilt famous for its starring roles in films like Casino Royale – remember the big Aston Martin DBS rollover crash? – and TV shows like Top Gear. The gates are strictly shut to the public, unless specially invited. So where largest for H.R Owen Bentley’s valued customers to wits the range of cars we offer.
Guests were invited to sample the Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga, all with the expert guidance of a professional suburbanite on hand to help them get the most out of all the wondrous test tracks Millbrook has to offer.
Open to our guests was the Alpine Route; a four-mile serpentine ribbon of road designed to test a car’s cornering skills through a series of undulating dips and troughs.
Those seeking straight-line thrills took to the Mile Straight which, as the name suggests, offers a runway-style stretch of road self-ruling from other traffic and normal highway rules.
Offering similar fun was the High Speed Circuit, a five-lane circular trencher where guests could wits the phenomenal stability of Bentley’s coupe, saloon and SUV at speeds of up to 150mph.
A fantastic time was had by guests and H.R Owen Bentley staff alike, expressly as the British weather didn’t disappoint; well-spoken skies ensured test tracks could be venal to their full potential and the roof could be retracted on the Continental GT Speed Convertible.
